Guest blogging, hmmmm? When it comes to promoting your blog, there are a number of steps that can be taken. Blog owners should always do what they can to drive traffic to their blog including article marketing, social networking, link building, blog commenting, forum participation, and more. Another great way to promote a blog is by guest blogging on the blogs of others. Writing an effective guest blog post is a good way to build credibility, get traffic, and expose your blog to eyes that normally would not have gotten to see it.

There are a number of things that should be done before a guest blog post is created though.

Ready Your Site

A guest blog post is designed to accomplish many things, but the ultimate purposes is to drive more traffic to your blog. You want your blog to be near perfect before this new traffic comes though because if it is only partially finished or not looking its best, that new traffic may never come back for a second visit.

Choose A Partner Site

When trying to decide where exactly you want to place your guest blog post, a number of things should be thought of. The ideal target blog you’ll be looking for is one that has an audience that would be receptive to the goals of your blog, whether that be attaining loyal readership, making sales, or both. The chances are better that your guest blog will be accepted if you find a blog that doesn’t directly compete with your blog, but instead covers a topic that is related to yours. Blogs that are openly seeking guest blog posts are great places to look first, but if you find the perfect blog that you would like work with and they don’t advertise that they are accepting submissions, contact them and inquire.

Now that those two steps are completed, it is time to write the guest blog post. Writing it at this point allows you to gear the tone and angle of it directly at the readers of the target blog you have chosen. Once the blog post is complete, make sure that you proofread it as few things can hurt your credibility more, and impact whether your guest post is accepted or not, than poor grammar and spelling.

Submit Your Post

Once your post is written and has been proofread, it is time to submit it to the blog you are hoping to guest post on. You shouldn’t just submit the post by itself, but also include a short message indicating what your goals for the post are, how it ties in with the subject matter at the target blog, and above all why that blog’s readers will find it useful.

Promote Your Post

Once the other blog posts your guest article, it would be wrong to think that your job is done. You can use some very basic and free methods such as article marketing and link building to promote that post. While it doesn’t make a great amount of sense to spend money to promote the blog post on someone else’s blog, free methods can drive traffic to that post and then that traffic can find your blog too. Having a post on the target blog that attracts a good amount of traffic is also a great way to setup a relationship with that blog owner where they may want you to become a regular poster.

Interact With The Readers

One of the best ways to get people who are reading the guest blog post to find your blog too is to interact with those that are commenting on it. Thank those who compliment you on the information you covered. Answer questions from those that are further interested or who may not understand the information you covered. You can even respectfully debate those who question you and the information you posted.

Getting a guest blog post up on a popular blog that is related to the subject matter that your blog covers is one of the better and more unique ways to drive traffic to your blog. The best part about this method is that you are leveraging the traffic that the other blog has in a way that it could benefit you and increase the credibility and reputation of your blog. You are also adding valuable content to the target blog, which makes it a win-win situation for both blog owners. Guest blogging is a great traffic generation and blog promotion method, but only when done right.

Learning how to create a blog can be overwhelming if you haven’t made one before. There are so many choices, it can be hard to sort out what is what. Do I want a Blogger blog, a Wordpress blog, a Moveable Type blog? What plug-ins will I need? What type of design is best? What should I write about? OY! How do you sort through that mess?

It can seem technical and so full of tiny details, many people stop because they get frustrated. Why not make the learning curve easier? It’s easy to learn what to do, when you have a mentor or someone who can show you the way in a clear and concise manner.

The best tool for beginners is called “The Niche Blogger”. With detailed instructions, videos to show you how to do things, step-by-step instructions on building a blog, to deciding what to write about, to installing plug-ins, “The Niche Blogger” takes your hand and makes the process so simply, anyone can do it.

With screenshots and detailed directions you’ll not only learn how to install a blog, but learn how to market that same blog, and make money! This isn’t some program that is over hyped, it’s a mom who tailored a great method that works for her, and then found a way to share that information in an easy to understand manner. I was so sold on it after I joined, within a month, I became a lifetime member. I’m telling you, the quality of information she provides is top notch.

Listen, I understand…you’re nervous because you aren’t technical. It’s okay…you won’t fail. Her information is so solid, it’s so detailed, it makes it super simple to understand. On top of that there’s a forum where lots of people will help you with any question you have. I’m there often, and all day long, people come with questions and get answers super quick. I’ve personally helped many people with technical things they were unsure of. I’ve literally gone into their site and helped them if they were stuck. It’s a helpful community, and we all want to watch each other succeed, and it shows.

Amy changed her family’s life for the better, and you can too.

Her honesty and compassion for helping people has really stood out in my mind and has separated The Niche Blogger membership from anything else I have purchased online. I stand by that statement, and I have said it over and over….Amy offers quality information and truly wants you to succeed.

The price of The Nich Blogger is so low that it’s really hard to pass up because it saves you so much time and energy. One of the great things is that you will easily be able to earn back the small monthly fee if you put the concepts and techniques into action.

I highly recommend The Niche Blogger….Amy’s course has changed how I blog…and I’ve been a blogger for years!

Here are some common blogging mistakes. Avoid these mistakes and you’re well on your way to a more successful blog. While blogging is something a lot of people enjoy doing, when it comes to trying to make money with a blog, there are a couple things you’ll want to keep in mind.

5 Blogging Mistakes to Avoid

Hiding What Your Blog Is About

From a simple About page to a tagline located in the header, there are a number of ways to get the message to your visitors what your blog is about. Hiding the true subject, or making it vague, is a sure way to lose readers.

Posting Large Blocks Of Text

While books are quite popular with many people, blogs are not books. People tend to scan through a website, picking out headlines and boldface phrases, to determine what is on the page and if they should go back and read it more thoroughly right now or at a later date. When the page is covered with endless text, many people will look for more reader friendly blogs to spend time at.

Taking Control Of The Reader’s Browser

There are commands you can use when designing your blog that will resize the reader’s browser window, open links in new windows, or cause a pop-up advertisement to appear. In general it is a bad idea to not let the reader control how they view your content. If they want to resize the window, they will. If they want to open a link in a new window, they will. Triggering pop-up windows that obscure the content the reader wants to see can cause people to leave your blog and never come back.

Overusing Flash - Blech!

There are a number of very interesting and visually pleasing things that can be done with Flash technology. Filling your blog with too much Flash content though can make it extremely slow to load and could also irritate some readers.

Using Wild and Bright Fonts And Font Colors

While you may think that a particular font looks very cool and than a particular color is really attention grabbing, it is also possible that the font is hard to read and the color is somewhat painful to look. Brightly colored text is one of the top complaints that people have about websites. A standard of a darker text color being written across a lighter background is successful for a reason, it is easier to read.

Focused, interesting writing works best when it comes to blogging. There are a plenty of things that you can do to make your blog stand out from the crowd. There are also a number of things you can do that in the end will losing you readers. Don’t do anything to the design of your blog that makes it harder to read, difficult to look at, or annoying to browse through. Design your blog to be as user friendly as possible!

People want to know: how do you make a blog? What type of blog are you interested in making first? There are video blogs, blogs like this one which are written, there are blogs with the purpose of promoting a business, and there are blogs that are for personal use. Before you learn how to make a blog, you’ll want to decide what TYPE of blog you’ll make!

In blogging, you are not limited into one type of blogging type. In fact, there are several types of blogs. No matter what type bloggers use, they publish content around topics and issues that they feel passionate about. For instance, several bloggers write about politics, others for pet care and some for personal computers. However, blogs that are business oriented are often focused into a single topic for the
fact that they need to emphasize their services or products.

Blogs can cover a wide range of topics. Because of this versatility, several people are starting to blog.
Not only can they express what they feel or advertise their products or services, they can also earn cash.
Blogs are new methods of earning income at the comfort of your own home. However, that is just the icing on
the cake since blogging can bring lots of joy to several bloggers for that fact that they can share
their opinions and thoughts to others and receive advise from them or vice versa.

Blogging for Business

Several businesses are exploring the world of blogging. This is an excellent opportunity for them since blogging is a great medium of communication. Additionally, business oriented blogs can benefit from the search engine optimization advantage, which is the biggest leverage of blogging.

If the business has a Web site that promotes a product or service, any type of content that the business use
as the vehicle to drive the business or commerce to another level require a blog. Blogs are very useful
because they are text-based and light weight, with regards to the code used, compared to traditional Web
site content. This only means that blogs minimize the crawl time of search engine spiders and allow them to
retrieve more information about the page to the search directories a lot faster.

More so, blogs are dynamic because they can be updated frequently. By frequently publishing contents for the blog, the search engine spiders visit more often. The result is that the blog can have more pages being sent over the search engines compared to the business’s opponents. This is very good indeed if the competitor is the one who has a static Web site. This also provides the blogging business an opportunity to reach out to more potential customers, thus possibly increasing their revenue.

Blogging for Personal Use

Normally, personal blogs have the characteristics of being exciting, interesting and enjoyable. Bloggers
blogging for personal reasons have the purpose of keeping their friends and family updated about their
lives and activities. Many bloggers find comfort in blogging personal contents. Additionally, if you
create a personal blog, you are open to the idea of sharing your interest with other people who might
visit your blog.

Like any other blogs, personal blogs can be incorporated with photos, videos and other multimedia
elements. You can create a personal blog about anything that you feel passionate about. There are
even personal blogs with contents regarding products that the blogger is really interested in. This
provides the businesses ideas about the preferences of their customers. This only proves that blogs also work
in synergy.

Blogs are very easy to use content management systems, which allow you to publish articles right away and in real-time. These platforms for communication unravel new opportunities to connect with others both in a
personal or professional manner.

I love blogs. Money just seems to go together with blogs so well! Seriously, I’ve been blogging and making money for 2 1/2 years. June will be 3 years for me! Want to know what made a difference when it came to my blogs? Money starting coming in more and more after I joined The Niche Blogger. I know, I know, I rave about this program…when something is this good, you just want to talk about it.

What is The Niche Blogger, and what isn’t it?
The Niche Blogger is a step by step process that shows you how you can make a blog, and optimize it to make money. Amy Bass, the owner of the site is a great mentor and has really made the learning process so simple. Why would a seasoned blogger join? I joined because I believed in Amy, and the quality she was offering. Let me tell you what happened…I joined up for a month, not sure if I’d stick around or not…and in less than 4 weeks, I’d signed up to be a lifetime member! (TRUE STORY)

I saw solid content. It wasn’t just the content she was offering, but how she was doing it. It wasn’t technical jargon, it was simplified text and video that showed step by step…do this, click here, add this, join here….and I’ve not looked back. I’m a huge fan, so it’s hard for me to just quietly sit here and go..oh, by the way, nice little program for you to check out. This is a great program that really can get you involved with blogs. Money follows…my income has increased, and yours can too!

Listen, here’s what The Niche Blogger is NOT…it’s not a magic formula. Buckets of cash won’t fall over your head…oh, yes, I’ve struck it rich! Not going to happen, but what does happen is you create some nice passive income that just keeps growing. On top of that, once you’ve created one blog, you can then go on and replicate that process over and over again! Then you have all these blogs. Money follows…

Earning blogging money is a lot easier than you might think. The most important thing you should realize is that you need a solid plan of action if you are going to have any hope of earning a good income from your blogs.

It’s not enough to just put a blog up and hope that the money will start to roll in! You will put time and energy into this, but you truly have to look at it as a business. Invest in yourself, and know that a lot of people are out here making money with their blogs. I’m one of them…and I’ve got to say, I love The Niche Blogger.

You’ll find me on the message boards, so if you need help with anything, all you have to do is ask. I use the name Deb (really creative, huh?), so it’s easy to find me.

One of the best things about blogging is that once you have your blog set up it is relatively passive income. See that pattern? Blogs. Money. Earning money from blogs can literally change your life for the better. I use my blogging money to travel, and just this week I booked a two week trip to Florida…Disney and the Florida Keys…blogging is such a great way to increase your income. I’m not saying to give up your day job tomorrow, but there’s true potential here.

Let’s look at the importance of consistent blogging…The goal of most blogs is to increase their readership, whether first-time readers or those returning to the blog after having read something that they liked. There are many things that a blogger can do that encourages both initial traffic and return readership. Most of the battle though consists of providing quality content on a consistent basis.

Quality content is by far the most important thing that your blog should have going for it. Without it, there is no reason to read what you write and without readers you will never be able to accomplish the goals that you have for your blog. The next most important thing though, and something that many bloggers fail to do, is posting to your blog on a consistent basis.

When a reader comes across a blog that they like the content of, they often either try and remember the name of it or bookmark it to their favorites so they can return and read more. If they were to return in a few days and nothing new was posted, they might try again the next day eventually they would give up and think to themselves that this blog is rarely updated. Conversely, when a blog reader finds your blog and likes what they see, if you post regularly and consistently, there will be something new for them to read the next time they visit. After doing this just a few times, suddenly you are part of this blog reader’s daily habit. This means that you have won over a new reader based solely on the fact that you are consistently updating the content of your blog.

Consistently blogging can mean something else too. There are bloggers who like to post to their blog on a daily basis. Their readers get used to checking in every day and seeing what new tidbits or words of wisdom they can find out. If you blog on a daily basis, you should really consider posting to your blog at roughly the same time every day. You could have readers that check your blog as part of their daily schedule. If they know to expect new information from you with a morning or an evening post every day, they can more easily get in the habit of going to your site.

The other thing that consistently posting to your blog does is create a wealth of content for your site. This content gets indexed by search engines and then garners even more traffic and potential readers for your blog.

Posting consistently to your blog is one of the best ways to inform your readers that you care not only about the subject you are posting about, but their experience while on your blog as well. It shows that you are taking into account their valuable time and their need for the information you are providing. Posting consistently is the best way to tell your readers that your blog is a place they can go for reliable information that is both constant and current. It really helps establish both you and your blog’s credibility.

We’re all looking for ways to make money with blogging. I’ve been doing it for awhile, and what works for me may not work for you. On the other hand, you may do great with an area I don’t succeed in. Knowing the different types of income streams available to bloggers lets you feel out what might work for you.

Blogging can be a fun and worthwhile way to spend time online. Many people set up blogs as a personal record of themselves or their family, many others use blogs as a way to keep distant family and friends up to date on what is going on in their lives. There are also a great deal of people that blog on a more commercial basis. This can be in relation to a website or offline business or their own or it can also be done as a way to generate income. Anyone looking to blog for money should know the basics income streams available to bloggers.

PPC Advertising

Often beginning bloggers first foray into online money making is through PPC, or pay-per-click, advertising. The most popular PPC advertising network is Google’s Adsense, although there are other viable options on the market too. A PPC advertising network allows a blogger to display their ads on the blog and then pays out a specific amount each time one of their advertisements is clicked. This method is not just for beginners, there are a number of blogging experts that continue to make a decent amount of money through PPC advertising.

Affiliate Sales

Many blog owners choose to sell items themselves using their blog as a sales vehicle. This is most often done through affiliate sales where the blog owner has signed up as an affiliate and then recommends certain products to their readers, keeping a percentage of each sale that they make. When the right product is chosen and it is combined with a related blog that gets attention from people who would be interested in the product, this can pay off well.

Paid Blog Posts

Writing paid blog posts is a proven way to earn money through blogging. Many advertisers are willing to pay blog owners in exchange for them writing a blog post about their website, service or product. This brings value to them because of the exposure to the blog’s audience, as well as the backlinks they gain. For blog owners with extremely popular blogs this can be a very lucrative income stream.

Link Sales

There is a great deal of debate over the the subject of selling links on a blog. There are search engines, Google in particular, that claim they will punish websites they determine to be selling links with lower rankings in their search results. Despite this, many people claim there are still ways to successfully sell links without search engines, or anyone else for that matter, finding out. The value of a link is often determined by the popularity of a blog and how much traffic it receives.

While there are a number of reasons that a person may choose to run a blog, should that person be trying to either blog for a living or just to make some extra money, you’ve got a couple ways to make money with blogging. Building a blog into a reliable and successful website takes time and effort, those efforts should be rewarded and these are just a few samples for how they can be.

Oooh, want to make money with an affiliate marketing blog? Whoa slow down! While you’ve heard you can make lots of money blogging with affiliates, let’s take a look at some quick pointers on blogging and affiliate marketing. While that’s all well and good…some people go overboard. Let’s look at what happens when you don’t control this aspect.

There are many bloggers who started their blog for the purpose of making money. There is nothing wrong with this and it is not a hidden fact. There are a number of ways to make money through blogging, some are looked on favorably and some are not. Anyone who spends any amount of time checking different blogs out quickly and easily can see some of the popular ways to make money online. Many bloggers make money through blogging through pay per click ads, the selling of links, affiliate sales, and more.

Each money making method does have its own downsides though. A significant amount of damage can be done to a blog that goes overboard in each of those methods. Here is a look at the dangers of going overboard with affiliate marketing. There are two main problems that can happen to a blog that spends more time worrying about affiliate marketing than it does about the stated purpose of the blog itself.

Loss of Credibility

Blog readers like to read interesting and thought provoking information and feel that the blog author feels strongly about the subject. When they start to feel, because of over saturation of affiliate posts and ads, that the blogger is really blogging just for money and trying to sell products to the readers, they may decide to value what the author says less, and may even decide to stop visiting the blog. By sacrificing blog quality in the name of increased affiliate sales, a blog owner has decided that they and their blog’s credibility is not important to them.

Loss of Focus

When a blog exhibits too many affiliate marketing ties and promotions, sometimes the focus of the blog can suffer. A blogger may merely be attempting to increase their online earnings, but if this forces them to post about things that are only vaguely related to their blog’s subject matter, or worse yet, post about things that are unrelated to the topic of their blog, they are damaging their blog immensely. Readers frequent a blog because it consistently gives information about a subject they are looking for more information on. When a blog is taken over by affiliate ads and blog posts promoting affiliate products, especially ones that are not of particular value to the readers, then they may decide to stop visiting the blog on a regular basis.

Making money online via blogging is not a sin. Most blog readers know that most blogs are set up as income generation mechanisms to some degree. The thing is though that they don’t want to feel like they have walked onto the stereotypical used car lot when they visit a blog they are hoping will provide them with the information that they are looking for. Two qualities that a blog must have to be a success are credibility and focus, but going overboard on affiliate sales, ads, and blog posts risks losing all the credibility and focus that a blogger has built up during the life of their blog.

Thinking about making multiple blogs? A lot of people do it, and it can be done with the right organization. Blogging is no longer the latest thing to hit the internet, it has developed past that into becoming both a viable communication tool and a valuable potential source of income. If you own and operate a blog, you are probably fully aware of both the highs and lows of the blogging process. If you feel your blog is a success, or even if you would classify it as only being on the road to success, you may have entertained the idea of starting multiple blogs. A second blog could mean more traffic and even more income, but are you ready for the commitment it takes to run more than one blog? Don’t even ask how many I have.

A second blog could mean a fresh start if there are lessons you have learned from your first blog, and things you have decided you wished you would’ve done differently. Almost every first time blogger will eventually learn new methods that they would like to implement on a new blog. MAN! Why didn’t I think of that for the first blog, you might be thinking….with another blog, you can do those things you’ve picked up along the way.

A second blog could mean accessing the potential income of a completely different niche and adding income to your online business. This can also act to stabilize inconsistent income that comes in from your first blog.

A second blog could also mean that you could become rejuvenated in your online marketing efforts. It is very easy to feel like you have fallen into a rut, sometimes the excitement of a new topic or project can really get your creative juices going.

There is a downside to running multiple blogs though too. Unless you have plans to either outsource or automate your new blog ventures, they will almost certainly require more time than you are putting in right now. I do this full time, so seriously…I am quite aware of the time crunch involved. It takes time and commitment.

You’ll also need more content since a blog’s content is really what sets it apart and gives it it’s best chance at success. Adding a second blog could mean that the first blog, or any other online projects that you currently run, becomes neglected and starts losing some of the traffic or business that you had built for it. Running multiple blogs can often cause blog owners to begin to feel overwhelmed by the pressure they put on themselves, if this were to happen to you it may mean that not only do your new blog ventures fail, but it could also cause your original blog to fail as well.

There are many reasons that make adding additional blogs to your blog portfolio a good decision, but there are also a number of things to be prepared for. While the extra income, prestige, and overall value that more blog properties added to your portfolio are nice, there are also several factors that could add up to leading them to never achieving success too. Before deciding it is time to add a new blog, it may be time to first analyze where you are right now and if all the things it takes to start a new blog will negatively affect the online projects you currently have going.
