When it comes to designing or modifying your blog’s structure so that it has the best chance of being a success as possible, most bloggers need look no further than their About Me page. The About Me page is an essential feature of a blog and using it correctly is necessary for communicating to your readers that you are a real person and you know what you are talking about. There are a number of things that can be included in an About Me page, but here is a look at five things that should be done on every blog’s About Me page.

Explain Who You Are

Your blog’s About Me page is where you introduce yourself to your readers and those that you hope will become your readers. When someone wants to know who exactly is writing the blog they are reading, they will head to the About Me page. Putting your name out there scares some bloggers, but it also puts many readers’ minds at ease knowing that there is a real person behind the thoughts and ideas that are being posted there.

Explain Your Role

There are a number of different types of bloggers out there. Some are blogging as part of their corporate job, some blog on personal issues, some blog for their own business, and some are blogging about a certain subject as a way to make money online. Describing your role to the readers is important in that it puts them in the proper frame of mind to receive the information you are presenting. This isn’t to say you need to say that you are blogging as part of your job or that you write your blog as a source of income, but explaining why you are posting the information you do is an important step to take.

Explain Your Expertise

To expect people to value your opinions and thoughts without explaining to your readers why they should find you as a trusted source is not realistic. If you plan on having a successful blog, you should explain your expertise on the issues that you are blogging about. This is where you should be using phrases that describe past related positions you have held, how many years experience you have, or other qualifications that will make people realize that you are one of the best sources for information on the subject you blog about. When you explain your expertise, you make people more receptive to what you post.

Explain How You Solve Real Problems Or Help People Meet Goals

There are a number of people that go to blogs for entertainment or news, those that don’t though are usually headed there for help with a problem, or help meeting a goal they have. These are the people that you want to become loyal readers. The best way to do this is explain to them that your blog is a great source for information that will help them solve their problems or meet their goals. Doing this will give the reader a reason to come back again next time for more help.

Explain How Readers Can Contact You

There are two main reasons that you should explain to your readers how they can contact you. The first is obvious, readers may have a question that is specific to them or feedback they would like to give you and without that information posted, they would not be able to contact you. The second reason that your contact information should be posted on your About Me page is that it is yet another way to reassure your readers that you are a real person who stands behind the information on your blog. Many blogs have no contact information displayed and what this tells people is that the information only travels one way there, from blogger to reader, and that the person writing has no true interest in touching their audience.

There are many necessary features that a blogger should have on their blog, and an About Me page is one of them. The posts you post on your blog give your opinions and thoughts on how to do things or are reactions to things others are doing in most cases. Many times people who read your blog are searching for verification that you know what you are talking about, that you are a real person, and that they can contact you if they need to. Having the above five factors covered on your About Me page goes a long way towards making your blog a success.
